My baby turns one year

Happy Birthday Trista!! She Turned on on August 8th. We had a big back yard party and invited about 20 people. It was a blast. She had tons of fun...of course being outside for that length of time made it all worth while for her. She just loves wandering around in the backyard. Daddy bar-b-qued and I got a bunch of salads together with some help from Costco. I made and decorated the cake with the inspiration from Shara.
It is so hard to believe my baby is one year old already! I am not sure where the year went. It has been a good year though I have enjoyed every minute of it. That may all change when she starts walking! AS it is she is a very busy girl that likes to be on the move. However she has a very calm temperament most of the time....just the odd little temper tantrum now and then. I think she gets that from her dad....
Back to work
Well you know I was dreading it something awful....I guess more so leaving my kids behind than actually going to work. The kids did great! Trista even had a nap...well it was a short one but a nap all the same. I guess maybe she doesn't need mommy as much as I think she does...maybe mommy needs Trista more than I realize.
On the work side of things. It was a little like riding a bike. Slowly things started coming back to me. The brain is a powerful thing....even after surviving pregnancy for the second time! However...my second day of work the Shara was too sick to go to the sitter. Chris was able to stay home with them fortunately. But how typical is that...I go back to work and my kids get sick!! Maybe it is a sign I should just stay home.
Eight days left....*tears*
I have eight days left of my maternity leave before I have to go back to work. I am not looking forward to leaving my baby with a stranger to look after her. No one can meet her needs like her mommy can. I worry about her napping and eating and just plain old missing me. I just hope she does ok....Shara will adjust fast at the new sitter. I am glad she will be there to be there for her sister before she goes back to school for a few days. Hopefully it will make the adjustment easier. Although Shara is quite capable of telling me how it "really went". That I am not sure I should know....although I really do want to know.
But who knows maybe it will be me that has the rought time adjusting rather than the kids. After all when I go back it will be with a new dentist.....a woman dentist. Not sure what I think about that....women can be so vicous. I already work with an office full of women as it is....and the office has more than enough "Drama". Sometimes I can bearly stand the "drama" as it is. Well...on the upside maybe it won't be as bad as I expect it to be. I guess time will tell
Vacationing in the Shwaps!
OUR SUMMER VACATION JULY 2006

The place were it all began a little..well I should say big cabin on Little Shushwap Lake. Our home away from home for a week! Lake front...was great for the kids. Shara and I spent several hours on the swimming dock reading books and enjoying the warmth fo the sun and taking a dip when it got too hot. Now that is relaxing!! Fully airconditoned...thank goodness as we probably would not have survived the 35 degree plus weather.

My favorite time of the vacation! My feet up in a lounge chair sitting outide on the deck in my bathing suit ... my morning coffee on one side and my little ankle biter on the other. Life doesn't get much better!

My sister Shirley and her husband Kevin joined us for part of the week with their little ankle biters. It was a great time although for some of us not alot of sleep. All in all it was a great week and we would do it again. Next time maybe with a boat.
After our week at the Shwaps we continued down to Pentiction to check out Shirley and Kevins place. We spent some time at the beach where the water is way warmer than the Shuswaps ...Trista enjoyed the water a lot more! Then we headed home...traveling was far better than I imagined. Trista did really well. Shara had her moments with car sickness but nothing a little gravol didn't take care of. However by the end....everyone was glad to get out of the car when we pulled into our driveway at home! The best thing about a vacation is being glad to be home!!
Kittens to give away
Easter Sunday at Gramma and Grampas we came across kittens that needed homes in the next few weeks. This is the face and the words that came along with the face....

"Ohhhhhh....I want a kitten!"
Even though she already has a fun kitten at home!! Always wanting to trade in on a new younger model. Go figure!
Spring has sprung
I think spring is finally here to stay...I haven't wanted to even assume that until now. Out walking the other weekend we discovered that the trees are starting to bud. That is so exciting. I love spring for all that is new makes its appearance. Snow melting has left its mark in the form of puddles...which has brought out the rubber boots and the splash pants. These puddles are staying around a lot longer this spring I guess that happens when you get a lot of snow over the winter. Anyway...it has been a lot of fun dispite the bootfuls and the mudd being tracked forever into my house.

We spent Easter Sunday at my mom and dads and they have lots of puddles to splash in. Gramma even slipped on her rubber boots to join shara in the adventure. Who says you are too old to splash in puddles. Shara thought this was a bast. What a cool Gramma!

Trista just enjoyed the great outoors and the puddles from the stroller with mommy.

Today Trista had her six month needle. Normally Chris takes time off work to come with me. I am such a wuss at things like when my kids have to get their immunizations or have blood taken....if they cry...I cry. This can be a tad embarrassing coming from a grown woman. Even though in my job I am exposed to needles everyday and people getting them, however when it comes to me subjecting my kids to such procedures I fall apart. So I walked in to the health unit and told the nurse that Chris could not make it so be prepared for both Trista and mommy to be in tears. Maybe part of it is admitting the weakness that made me strong cuz I was a really brave girl despite the fact that Trista wailed and wigged out.
Sleep overs

Last week Shara had the week off school for winter break. So let the sleep over marathon begin! The first night was spent at her friend Jaida's house then it seemed to only make sense that Jaida spend that night at our house the next night. It is only fair ...Right?! Well getting them all snuggled into bed settled down with a movie on Shara's bed...and wouldn't you know it the previous sleep over made for two tired girls who didn't even make it through their little movie!
Valentines Day

For Valentines day I decided I would be a good wife and bake my hubby a cheese cake. Baking is just something I never do unless it is banana muffins and the odd occasion cookies . I have also been known to pull off the odd birthday cake a few times a year but that is the extent of it. So this cheese cake seemed a little intimidating, however it ended up being easier than I remembered. It actually turned out very well I was so proud of myself the non baker that I am. Chris was so kind to say that it was the best cheese cake he had ever had! Such a supportive husband...although he knows if he doesn't say such things the chances of me ever making one again are next to nil. I even got creative and made a few chocolate dipped strawberries on the side. That was valentines day ....they say the way to a mans heart is through his stomach so I trust then that he knows that I love him on top of all the "I love you's".
The food debut for Trista

Well yesterday was the day! Trista had cereal for the first time. It went really well...she was soo excited to be finally eating big girl food. Today we tried it again....it did not go so well today. Most of it didn't stay in. I guess it will be a little more of a challenge than I originally thought it would be. Part of the challenge of being a mom I guess. We will try again tomorrow maybe at a different time of day.
